●後顧の憂いがない 〔あとあとの心配〕 have no anxiety about the future; 〔死後の心配〕 have no anxiety about one's family after one's death

・天下りは官僚が後顧の憂いなく働けるようにするための制度だと彼は主張する. He asserts that the system of amakudari exists so that bureaucrats need not worry about their future (after retirement).

・夫の出陣を前に, 後顧の憂いを絶つため妻は離別を申し出た. Before the husband left for the front, the wife requested a separation so that he would be free from family cares.

・後顧の憂いがあっては勇躍死地におもむくことはできない. As long as one is anxious about those one leaves behind, one cannot take heart in going to certain destruction.
